3021

A usual day in the town. Riots, uprisings, arsons, criminal activity… Nothing new in the life of young Amael Goldberg. He was only seventeen as he lost his brother Luka to a terrorist attack. Their father wasn’t there to help him cope with the death, so he created an image of him to be with him…

One day however everything changed. On his eighteenth birthday, he got a package from someone. He opened it, as he celebrated the birthday with some drinks, games, and his online friends as he played a Battle Royale game called Warrior of the Thirteens. He was drinking a can of long drink as he opened the door.

‘’A package for Amael Goldberg.’’ Said the delivery guy.

Amael stared at the man for a moment but nodded.

‘’That’s me.’’ He said.

‘’There you go. Enjoy your day.’’ The delivery guy smiled as he gave the package to him.

Amael took it and nodded.

‘’Thanks, you too.’’ He said as he closed the door he opened the package in the lobby and walked to the living room back to his battle station console.

He sat down on the couch and opened the package, only to find two envelopes. He sighed a bit and opened the one that said: Open this first.

Inside it was a long letter with a lot of paper. Amael took a sip from his drink and sighed heavily.

‘’Do I have to…’ He mumbled but started reading anyway.

The letter said:

My dearest son Amael.

I am sorry I haven’t been there for you, but there’s a bounty of my head. And it’s all because of this small thing I built. I sent it to you so keep it safe even after I am dead. I call this invention IPW. Inventory Pocket Watch. But it’s a lot more than just a pocket watch. Well, what does it do? You can store things in it, travel through time and space, and many more. I know it sounds crazy, but it is true. You will find a companion for yourself. Your Timeless will be located inside it. Timeless is a creature like us, but they have no time limit on living. And you, my dearest, will be his traveler. Travelers are…

Amael stopped reading and sighed.

‘’Bunch of bullshit.’’ He said and finished his long drink.

‘’Like something could get me out of this place… Bwah. Keep dreaming. Because I will probably go the same way Luka did…’’ He growled and walked to the lit fireplace and threw the letter there with everything it had.

He felt right to be angry, but as he opened the Pocket Watch, it had a cute picture of two foxes nuzzling on its cover. He had a soft spot for Foxes so he just put it to the wall to hang from its chain and went back to play with another drink.

As it started to get late, he ordered some food and went to shower after eating. He felt like something was watching him, but he shook it off as he washed his long copper brown hair and rinsed it, pressing the shower off and as he was walking to his bed, as he realized the pocket watch was on his bed…

‘’What the hell?’’ He mumbled as he stared at it.

He had left it to hang from the wall…

He quickly checked around the house but found no one. This freaked him out even more. He walked to his bedroom and took the clock in his hand. He pressed the button on top and what he saw was a flash of a hologram text coming from the clock fingers.

‘’Connect with drop.’’ It said.

‘’What drop?’’ Amael asked as he realized the text was red like blood.

‘’Oh, I see…’ He said and took off the glass, pocking the finger, it being sharp cut his finger a bit and the blood was sucked to the clock finger. Nothing happened for a moment. He almost closed it, as there was another light and a page opened with a lot of slots.

‘’What the hell?’’ He asked and looked at it. He touched the first slot where was a small book. It appeared in his hand. He put the IPW onto the desk and looked at the cover of the small book. It said: You burned the letter - User Manual for IPW.

Amael huffed in amusement.

‘’Yea, yea…’’ He mumbled and started reading the book until his phone buzzed. It was time for his evening medication, but he just swiped it to the left and kept reading, not making any movement.

As he finished the book, he looked at the clock and pressed the button on the top for a long time, there appearing an empty page with a keyboard on the bottom. He checked the code and wrote: /TP to Nexus.

He pressed enter and looked as the world around him went in swirls and he was in a different location. He stared around, still in bathrobes from his shower… At the location was a tube with an open door and a lot of different pillars and doors. The door to the Tube said: Walk in here. Amael huffed and walked in.

He noticed himself being risen to the air a tiny bit as a selection screen came up.

‘’Whoa, what?’’ He asked from himself and started trying out random buttons, seeing his skin and body changing.

He chose to be taller, his hair a bit longer from the front. He then chose fancy clothes of dark blue coat that gave out a hue of purple, with a lighter undershirt and black pants and fancy brown boots. And soon he noticed a thing called: Wings.

‘’What the hell?’’ He asked and pressed the button.

As he stepped out, he had sparkling blue to red slide-colored wings that sparkled. He looked at himself and chuckled a bit, looking at the table that had appeared next to him. There were three crystals with all having a different kind of creature in. Amael just shrugged and took the pink and white one. He looked at it for a moment, trying to figure out how it worked and he then pulled the two pieces apart, in front of him appearing a small rock-like creature, that bounced to the selection, where Amael started changing it.

As he was done, the creature stepped out with two legs, tails, and head put on them. He had purple and white coloring. Its ears and tail were purple, as the rest of it was pretty much white. Amael chuckled a bit.

‘So beautiful.’ He snickered in his mind.

The creature looked at Amael.

‘’Hello, Master.’’ The creature greeted.

This caught Amael a bit off guard.

‘’Hi?’’ Amael asked.

‘’What is my name?’’ The creature asked.

‘’You shall be known as…’’ Amael stopped to think.

‘’Shrimp.’’ He smirked.

‘’As you wish.’’ The creature nodded and looked at Amael.

‘’I see you found your companion.’’ They heard an adult man’s low voice.

Amael got startled and looked at the man.

‘’Hello. Sorry for startling.’’ Said a man with an indigo jacket and purple-ish hair.

‘’It’s okay? Who are you?’’ Amael asked.

‘’I am Man in Indigo. Your Timeless Godfather.’’ The man said.

‘’Oh cool,’’ Amael said and looked around.

‘’Can you tell me more about this place?’’ He asked.

‘’Of course.’’ Man in Indigo said.
