A lonely man was walking along the most filthy streets of the coastal town. He was on his way for the local graveyard. He loved them. He had always been the weird one who feels comfortable near the dead. It could be because of his rare way of seeing death. He didn’t fear death. Instead, he waited for it and sometimes even longed for it. It would be the ultimate freedom from the shackles of his body. He was always empty, so death and pain made him feel something… Something great. He could feel emotions through pain, but if you tried threatening him, he wouldn’t even twitch a finger. He wanted to die. But there was a single problem… He was unable to. He would keep living until he would be two years without killing anyone. Which had seemed to be impossible. He was always yearning to send someone to the ‘’kingdom of peace’’ which he called it. Across the line, the light, Heaven… He despised those names. There was no line. No light. No Heaven. There was just peace and no pain.

From the top, one could say he was the calmest of the trio he often was with, but the truth was far from that. He was cold-blooded… He was a killer if anything. And his body count was way higher than the next one. His long pure white hair waved in the wind as he found the graveyard, and he began looking. What was he looking for? The oldest grave in the graveyard. There he met a woman. From the looks of it, a mother, lighting candles on a woman’s grave that read: Beloved wife, loved mother, peaceful nature.

The man stopped walking and looked at the oldish woman.

‘’What brings you here?’’ The woman asked with a calm tone.

‘’I am just looking for a grave.’’ The man answered with a similar tone.

‘’It’s funny how people get drawn to graveyards… I visit here almost daily, and it has never been empty. There’s always a widow crying for lost love, children visiting their grandparents, or even owners their pets they had that are long gone.’’ The woman sighed a bit.

‘’Which one are you?’’ The man asked.

‘’Widow crying for lost love…’ The woman said quietly, looking at the grave what said: Amanda Grales.

‘’How did she die?’’ The man asked, the woman turning to look up at the sky, holding a cross in her hands.

‘’Car accident almost a decade ago…’’ The woman said.

‘’The paramedics arrived too late… She was getting our son from school… When some old drunkard sped at them and…’’ She went quiet, looking at the gravestone, a single tear running down from his eye.

‘’Our son survived with small scratches and a broken leg, but she didn’t make it… She died later in the hospital… With me and our son next to her.’’

‘’I am sorry.’’ The man said.

‘’Thank you… But it’s in the past. Her life is over, but I still feel her with me everywhere I go. She protects me.’’ The old woman said.

‘’She is with you.’’ The man said.

‘’I can see her right next to you.’’ He said and put his hand on to the woman’s shoulder, where she could see Amanda… Her Amanda.

‘’A-Amand-‘’

‘’Shh, it’s alright, Clara. I am okay. I don’t have any pain any longer. I am so proud of you… And Maxie. He has grown to be a handsome man. And so kind… I have been with him at work. He truly enjoys the company of the children he teaches.’’ The spirit said with a gentle smile, pressing her forehead on hers, petting gently her short and curly dark hair.

‘’Amanda… There’s so much I would-‘’

‘’I know you have a lot to say. But keep holding on, never let go of what we had. You are still the cougar you were when we were young. So beautiful… And sexy.’’ Amanda smirked and kissed Clara’s forehead, causing her to giggle a tiny bit.

‘’I love you, Amanda.’’

‘’I love you too, Clara. I will always be here.’’ The spirit said, vanishing as the man took off his hand.

Clara’s eyes were teary as she looked at the man. She took a tissue and wiped her eyes.

‘’Thank you, young man. Thank you so much.’’ She said with a trembling voice.

‘’You are welcome, Clara.’’ The man said with a small nod.

Before long the two had started walking together.

‘’So have you moved here?’’ She asked.

‘’No. I am just looking for someone. My name’s Merlin by the way’’ The man said.

‘’The great wizard.’’ Clara chuckled.

‘’I wish I was. I am just one of three brothers who wish upon a star.’’ Merlin said.

‘’May I offer you dinner today as my son comes home?’’ Clara asked.

‘’Dinner? Are you alright inviting a stranger into your home?’’ Merlin asked, a bit surprised.

‘’I am alright with it.’’ Clara smiled.

‘’Alright. Then I shall come, but only if my brother can come too. He can be a wild case, but I am sure I can pursue him to behave.’’ Merlin joked a bit.

‘’Your brother is very welcome.’’ Clara smiled.

‘’Little bit of sounds of life in my dinner table is never a bad thing. And I am sure my son doesn’t mind it.’’

‘’Your son still lives with you?’’ Merlin asked.

‘’Yes… He is looking over me. I have deadly cancer… He takes care of me when my life is getting on a hard part.’’ Clara said.

‘’You have good hair for a cancer patient.’’

‘’It’s just a wig I like. Maxie got it for me.’’

‘’You have a nice son then.’’ Merlin smiled a bit.

‘’Ah, I know. Seems like it’s time to get going back home. Maxie will get from work soon.’’ Clara said.

‘’Alright. I will be there for dinner today with my brother Weston.’’ Merlin nodded.

‘’This is the address,’’ Clara said and took a piece of paper, writing the address on it.

‘’I wish to see you later.’’ She smiled and gave the note to Merlin, who took it.

‘’We will be there.’’ Merlin smiled, watching Clara walk away.

He walked towards nothing really, when he heard people screaming. He turned to look there, seeing a familiar man with long blue hair.

‘’Westex, stop killing people.’’ He said.

‘’Nice to see you too, Merly.’’ The man said, clearly annoyed by something.

‘’I heard what happened. You truly believed he’d come with you if you kill a kid?’’ Merlin asked.

‘’Well, no, but…’’ Westex sighed.

‘’He used his powers on me!’’ He said.

‘’Well, you used yours on someone dear to him. A CHILD.’’ Merlin sighed.

‘’Shush,’’ Westex said and the duo started walking.

‘’I got a dinner invite for us.’’ Merlin said.

‘’Who this time?’’ Westex sighed.

‘’An old lady. Called Clara Grales and his son Maxie. Ring any bells?’’ Merlin asked.

‘’You didn’t-‘’

‘’I did.’’

‘’Where?!’’ Westex asked, seemingly instantly happy.

‘’We met at the graveyard,’’ Merlin said.

‘’What a place.’’ Westex said with a sigh.

‘’How did you hear what happened? And how did you know it was Maxette’s mother?’’

‘’I have my ways of knowing things.’’ Merlin said.

‘’You asked a ghost?’’ Westex murmured, as they walked.

‘’They are spirits. And yes I did. From her dead wife.’’

‘’Ewww.’’ Westex said.

‘’You need to behave yourself as we have an invitation to the dinner.’’ Merlin said.

‘’I wish you still have those manners, right?’’ Merlin asked.

‘’Of course I do.’’ Westex sighed.

‘’Let’s go then.’’ Merlin said.

‘’It is almost dinner time…’’ He hummed and they walked towards the house of the old lady and her son…
